The History:

The Tancred Family have been involved traditionally in the meat processing industry for many years and more recently a number of other interests over a large range of industries. The Tancred Group of Company's is ideally situated to be able To seize opportunities that are arising in a number of fields and leveraging on the family's expertise specifically in the meat and livestock industry as well as other general business ventures. We enjoy a rate of expansion far in excess of' comparative family company's in Australia.

The Tancred Brothers Group of companies was the largest Meat Processing Company in Australia from 1978 until 1984. This was a significant feat considering competitors of the calibre of Smorgans, Metro, Elders and The Vesty Group. Under the Chairmanship of Geoff Tancred, the Group acquired one of the largest pastoral holdings for a private company in Australia as well as achieving many notable firsts in respect of turnover and profitability. The drive for increases in productivity as well as aggressive international marketing worldwide were trademarks of the Tancred Brothers Group at that time and those benchmarks are still used in gauging the success of the Australian Meat industry today.

In 1985 Tancred Brothers in a joint venture with other major players in the meat industry in Queensland formed a company called "Australia Meat Holdings”. AMH continues to be the largest meat processor in Australia to this day.

In 1993 The Family formed a joint venture "Consolidated Meat Croup" with Consolidated Press Holdings. The new company rapidly positioned itself as the 2nd largest beef processor in Australia and many ground breaking achievements resulted. including the putting in place of revolutionary "Enterprise Bargaining" arrangements.

In 1999 the Tancred Family sold their interest in CMG to pursue other opportunities.
